The Board of Directors has appointed Nell Reimann (56) as Head of Business Unit Market and a member of the Executive Board of Swissgrid as of 1st July 2023. She will succeed Maurice Dierick, who has decided to leave Swissgrid as of 30 June 2023.
Nell Reimann joined Swissgrid in September 2016. As Head of System Development, she was initially responsible for the strategic and operational management of the department and successfully implemented the comprehensive harmonisation and optimisation of the interfaces and processes at the control centres in Aarau and Prilly. In January 2019, Nell Reimann took over as Head of System Operations for Aarau and Prilly, and became deputy Head of Business Unit Market. In this role, she was in charge of overseeing operational planning for the Swiss transmission grid in close cooperation with the local and European partner organisations, with the European transmission system operators and with the power plant and distribution system operators in Switzerland.
Nell Reimann is a member and chairwoman of numerous national and international committees. Among other things, she was actively involved in the synchronisation of the Ukrainian and Moldovan transmission systems with the European interconnected grid. Nell Reimann previously held various management positions at EOS (Energie Ouest Suisse), Alpiq Réseau, Alpiq Enertrans and Romande Energie.
Nell Reimann has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from EPFL and an Executive MBA in Management and Corporate Finance from the University of Lausanne. She is a dual Swiss-British citizen and has two children.
Yves Zumwald, CEO of Swissgrid, is looking forward to working with her. «Nell Reimann has in-depth knowledge of system operations and is very well networked, both nationally and internationally. As a high-profile leader with strong implementation skills, she will actively tackle the future challenges associated with ensuring safe and stable grid operation.»
