Following approval by the Swiss Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations (Eidgenössische Starkstrominspektorat, ESTI) of the plans for the upgrade of the line Pradella – La Punt, the Federal Administrative Court has confirmed that no objections to the order have been have received. The decision is now legally binding.
The line will be upgraded to 2 x 380 kV over a length of 49 kilometres. As a result of the construction of the 110 kV valley line as a replacement, the existing 60 kV line will be dismantled. It will thus be possible to remove approx. 1000 wooden masts in the Engadin. The construction work can now be put out to tender. Work should ideally start in 2017.
