The Board of Directors has named Adrian Häsler as the new Head of the business unit Grid Infrastructure and as a Member of the Executive Board of Swissgrid. Häsler, currently the Head of the Grid Delivery department at Swissgrid, will succeed Maurice Dierick, who became Head of the Market business unit at Swissgrid on 1 January 2019.
The Head of the business unit Grid Infrastructure guarantees the maintenance of an efficient and safe grid infrastructure and is responsible for the modernisation work that the transmission grid requires. In addition, he manages all services associated with switching and control technology. Häsler, aged 52, is a graduate electrical engineer and has an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen. He started his career at the Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (KWO) as the Head of Operational Management. In 2000, he became the Head of the Secondary Systems department at Nordostschweizerische Kraftwerke AG (NOK). In this position, he was responsible for the planning, project development and realisation of substation projects in the area of security, control, measurement and monitoring. From 2007 onwards, Häsler was a member of the Hydroenergy Division management at Axpo Power AG and Head of the Technical Support business unit, which was responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of hydroelectric plants. He joined Swissgrid in 2017 as Head of the Grid Delivery department, where he is in charge of maintenance and repairs for the entire transmission grid, as well as for all grid construction projects in the Substation and Substation Automation Systems (SAS) areas.
«In Adrian Häsler, we have appointed an established and effective manager with strong leadership skills to lead the business unit Grid Infrastructure, which is of central importance both for us and for the supply of energy in Switzerland,» says Swissgrid CEO Yves Zumwald. «He contributed actively to the development of the new business model strategy for plant and facilities management and is thus very familiar with the challenges Swissgrid faces in this area.»
Häsler will take on his new role on 3 April 2019. He will replace Maurice Dierick, who has been the Head of the Market business unit since 1 January 2019.
