Michelle Roth appointed Head of Communication & Stakeholder Affairs
Michelle Roth (43) becomes the new Head of Communication & Stakeholder Affairs at Swissgrid. She will start her new role on 6 January 2020 and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Yves Zumwald. Michelle Roth will be responsible for all internal and external corporate communication, as well as relationships with Swissgrid's stakeholders.
Additional Swissgrid share capital increase imminent
The Board of Directors of Swissgrid has approved the implementation of the planned valuation adjustment for the grid systems acquired on 3 January 2019. The corresponding amendments to the articles of incorporation are to be enacted by the Board of Directors and approved by the Federal Council in December 2019.
The new extra-high-voltage line between Ernen and Ulrichen has been brought into service mid-October 2019. The preliminary work for the next section between Ernen and Mörel-Filet will start in the coming year.
Objections to the Bassecourt – Mühleberg grid project
The voltage increase of the Bassecourt – Mühleberg extra-high-voltage line will be delayed due to objections submitted to the Federal Administrative Court.
Update on the adjustment of export capacities (NTC) on the northern border of Switzerland
Swissgrid is cooperating with the neighbouring transmission system operators to optimise cross-border capacities so as to provide market participants maximum capacities.
Analysis of the grid security violation on 20 May 2019 available
Swissgrid investigated the strained situation in the Swiss transmission grid from 20 May 2019. The analysis shows that different factors played a major role in the violation of certain grid elements.
The 50-kilometer extra-high-voltage line between Pradella and La Punt is being expanded. Based on an evaluation of the pylon statics, it was decided to replace rather than reinforce 50 pylons.
Adjustment of export capacities (NTC) on the northern border of Switzerland
In the summer of 2019, Swissgrid had to reduce export capacity to Germany (NTC) on the northern border of Switzerland to ensure reliable grid operation. A static NTC value of 4,000 MW had been agreed with neighbouring transmission system operators for export from Switzerland to Germany.
Swissgrid Ltd successfully placed a corporate bond issue on the capital market on 2 September 2019. The CHF 125 million, 30 ¾-year bond issue has a coupon of 0.05 per cent.
