Power failure on 24 July 2018 in Sottoceneri (TI): Investigations concluded
On 24 July 2018, maintenance work was being carried out on behalf of Swissgrid at the Magadino substa-tion (220-kV line, Magadino – Soazza). In the course of the work, an earth fault at 10.43 a.m. led to a tem-porary interruption of the power supply in some areas of the Sottoceneri.
New 380/220 kV transformer for the Laufenburg substation
The installation of a new 380/220 kV transformer in Laufenburg (Aargau) is a further step in the renewal and expansion of the substation in Laufenburg. The project is part of the «Strategic Grid 2025» and plays a key role in the Swiss transmission grid.
Repair work to damaged 380 kV lines on Albula Pass to commence in May 2019
The work to repair the four bent pylons on the Albula Pass lines, which were damaged by Storm Vaia at the end of October, will commence in spring 2019. Clearance work on the site is completed.

Windstorm Vaia caused damage last night in Switzerland's transmission grid. In total six Swissgrid lines were impacted by the windstorm. Grid security is ensured.

The Board of Directors of Swissgrid has resolved to acquire further parts of the transmission grid as of 3 January 2019 and will propose the capital increase required for this purpose to shareholders.
Implementation of «Strategic Grid 2025» is progressing
The implementation of «Strategic Grid 2025» is progressing well: Construction of two important line projects from «Strategic Grid 2025» will begin at the end of August.
The preparatory work for the Chamoson – Chippis VHV overhead line that started last January is nearing completion for the first two sections between Chalais and Sierre and Sion and Vex.
