Groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of the Bonaduz substation
Swissgrid is planning and implementing several projects of great strategic importance for the Swiss transmission grid in the canton of the Grisons. They include upgrading the Bonaduz substation. The installation of a transformer will increase the operational flexibility of the substation and consequently improve security of supply in the canton of the Grisons and in Switzerland as a whole. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of the construction work, which is expected to last until the end of 2025.
Procurement of the first tranche of the hydropower reserve for next winter has taken place
In accordance with the ordinance on the establishment of a winter reserve reserve (WResV), Swissgrid today procured the first tranche of the hydropower reserve for the coming winter as part of a tendering procedure.
Shareholders approve all proposals by the Board of Directors
All the proposals by the Board of Directors were approved at today’s Annual General Assembly of Swissgrid Ltd. A dividend of around CHF 48.2 million will be distributed for the 2022 financial year. The amendments to the articles of incorporation were approved, but still require the consent of the Federal Council.
In spring 2023, Swissgrid and SBB submitted a planning application for the replacement of the high-voltage submarine cables between Brusino and Morcote. A total of six Swissgrid and two SBB cables will be replaced along the cable route, which is 2.8 km long.

Nell Reimann is to become a member of the Executive Board of Swissgrid
The Board of Directors has appointed Nell Reimann (56) as Head of Business Unit Market and a member of the Executive Board of Swissgrid as of 1st July 2023. She will succeed Maurice Dierick, who has decided to leave Swissgrid as of 30 June 2023.

Tariffs for the transmission grid in 2024
In a challenging environment, tariffs for grid usage and reactive energy remain stable. Overall, however, the tariffs for the transmission system will increase significantly in 2024.

The sustainability rating agency ISS ESG has awarded Swissgrid «Prime» status for its sustainability performance. In doing so, it confirms Swissgrid’s commitment to placing the emphasis on sustainability in its activities.
